There are a number of credit cards competing for the small business market. How do you choose the right card for business spending?
Hands down, we believe that best business credit cards are those that give you big bonuses on the things you actually have to spend money on for your business.
Business expenses are far from glamorous—internet charges, telephone plans, toner cartridges and office supplies—but we can’t do our work without them. What if there was a card that gave you so many bonus points for charging these business expenses that you actually got excited when you ran out of post-it notes and printer paper?
We compare a whole list of the business cards we think are pretty good over on the Business Card page, but if we had to rank our favorites based on the business bonuses they offer, there wouldn’t be much of a debate.
In our opinion the Chase Ink Plus cards is the front-runner in the race to be the hottest business cards out there for earning points for travel awards.
What we think makes this card the best for business spending is the offer of 5x points on business expenses each year up to $50,000 in spending on the card. This bonus applies to cell phones, internet services, and purchases at office supply stores like Office Max, Office Depot and Staples. If you are on-the-go often for your business, this card also gives 2x bonus miles on hotels and at gas stations.

As our other top contender, we’d choose the Starwood Preferred Guest card from our partners at American Express.. This AmEx Open was on the business card scene long before the Ink cards came around. While it doesn’t offer the big 5x bonus on office expenses, it does have a good sign up bonus of 25,000 SPG points and its flexible benefit to use your points at Starwood hotels or transfer them to 30+ airlines is unbeatable when it comes to redemptions!
No matter what card you choose, remember that the most important thing is to be sure you are maximizing the expenses that come along with running a business to earn perks and points for yourself and your employees. Paying your bills has never been so rewarding!
